Today it's quiet at my desk as I complete client galleries and finalize business tasks. However, I'm also looking forward to showing you one of the latest newborn baby boy's I had the honor of documenting. As a Houston Newborn Photographer, the wee ones are my specialty. There is something absolutely sacred about documenting precious babies, from the way they're ever so curly to molding them into poses reflecting that of the womb. While the art of newborn portraits are highly customized and require much love, care and attention to detail, I delight in these aspects. 

For each baby, I truly adore wrapping them! Not only are the wraps super soft, stretchy and pliable, they provide organic texture to your newborn gallery and showcase the beauty of baby. I provide everything from start to finish. Your color preferences are import to me though I will also incorporate your personal heirloom items if you'd like.

Baby Boy in Blue is just stunning! The hand knitted bonnet frames his cherub face without detracting from his handsome self. While I do like vintage and rustic prop pieces, I also like them to simply enhance baby and not be a distraction. Soft textiles add texture. Antique pieces reflect a classic fine art tone in your images. 

The macro details make your gallery shine! I love doing these. The lips, eyelashes, and their tufts of hair. Pure magic. The light fills baby's features and I cannot help but marvel in how babies are ever so purposefully born. They're the light of our lives. As a mother to three little girls, I can tell you I treasure their newborn portraits immensely! 

He looks ever so dapper in my favorite bucket! The green is a perfect compliment to him.

Ahhh, an outdoor family session! As a Houston photographer, these are some of my favorite to document since all of maternity, child and family portraits take place during the optimal hours in which the natural light is simply stunning. I also offer a plethora of lovely locations to browse so there is sure to be the perfect look for any family. 

Sessions are typically around an hour, sometimes a little less and sometimes a little more, to ensure plenty of time for a variety of images. While the focus is family, it’s also wonderful to show connections between mom and the little ones, the little ones playing together, and of course any family pets who attend our session, too.

For my time with this sweet bunch, we kept things easy and natural. Photos should reflect who you are and be a positive experience for kiddos. Posing is never forced and plenty of direction is given so that you feel comfortable. 

I've had several sessions with this beautiful family and their sweet pup always comes, too. He is a fantastic addition to the portraits and the session would be incomplete without him.

Moreover, what's most rewarding about photographing families and children, is seeing the wee ones grow. I remember when I first met Q's mama and she was pregnant with him. I documented his newborn portraits, too, and also his 6 month session and even nursing photos. 

Just a boy and his dog. True childhood. He will treasure these when he's older. Sometimes it's not until the moment has passed and years have gone by do we truly recognize the weight and meaning of portraits. Portraits are an investment and hold the utmost value as a family heirloom. You're taking these for your children. And their children. You're preserving all that is memorable.
