Greetings! Howdy to you! I'm thrilled you're here on my blog and are interested in reading more information about newborn information at my studio. To begin: welcome! Today's blog post features a sweet cherub named Kelleigh. Mom originally contacted me in the second trimester and booked a petite posed newborn collection for her daughter. This collection does including sibling images as well as family portraits, too. In this particular case, Mom and Dad requested we focus on siblings only and replace parent posing with photos of their little ones. I am happy to be flexible, so for this session, siblings were the star during family.

When baby is born, this is when we chat about the colors you'd like to see in your session. Mom requested a set up to match pink, white, cream and gold since she had special outfits ordered for the sisters. So, for our sibling time together, I pulled a favorite cream flokati rug and used my rustic wood floors. My newborn studio is full of wonderful items you're sure to love! Here's what Mom had to say about her portraiture experience with Sarah:

We chose Sarah to do the newborn and sibling photos when we added our 5th child. Our children photographed were 7, 4, 2, and newborn. Our 2 year old decided she would not be cooperative during the session, but Sarah was extremely patient while we tried to get our toddler to participate. She was flexible during the whole session and because of that we ended up with beautiful sibling photos.

The newborn session was great. You could tell that Sarah was very experienced with newborns. I LOVED the rich jewel tones colors that Sarah chose for the session. I'm ecstatic with the results and look forward to having these captured moments displayed in my home.

For the sibling portion, we focused on a group image, image of the girls, and then one image of each child with their little sister. I like the sessions to be simple, laid back, and pressure free for parents. Your sibling photos take place at the beginning of your newborn session. You arrive, feed baby, I wrap her one of the many cozy styles I utilize, and then we begin working with the children. I have everything set up and designed in advance so things run smoothly. I completely understand it's a lot of work to get everyone ready for photos. I have three little girls myself (and am having a boy this December!) so it's important you not feel rushed or stressed out at my studio.

Welcome Baby Girl Audrina | 7 Days Fresh and New

Greetings, friends! Howdy to you! I'm thrilled to see you've visited to see an adorable newborn session featuring the cutest baby girl. Audrina is absolutely stunning! She visited my studio when she was just one week old, so fresh and new! Baby girl weighed a little over 8 pounds, so she's a complete squish. Babies come in all sizes!

The first floor prop we used is a super cute yellow bucket. I love babies in this wrap, called potato sack pose, because they look so round and perfect! The babies also love to be wrapped; they sleep beautifully for me and we're often able to move through several newborn scenes within the short time frame of an hour or so. You see, in the past, before I had taken workshops on newborn wrapping, it would take me sometimes 4-5 hours to do a session. However, with the knowledge of adorable wrapping, I can typically do a newborn session in about an hour or so. While we never want to rush the session, this makes the portraiture experience easier for new parents. It's important you enjoy your time at my studio and are not there all day, obligated to a long time frame. 

For baby girl Audrina's flokati rug set up, I chose grey because it is timeless and can be used for either a boy or girl, depending how you style the session. For instance, for a sweet newborn girl, I will pull softer, more muted grey tones, such as heather grey. You can adorn baby with a dainty headband, seen below, to show the gender but also not detract from baby's beautiful features. Each newborn is unique and special; their sweet faces are simply stunning so we do not want to overwhelm the session with too much clutter. Less is often more. Let the beauty of baby be showcased.

For the second floor prop, which is included in the newborn collection, I used an antique & rustic metal pail. I found this little gem at my local antique shop. It's a very versatile prop and one of my favorites. I have found, over the years, there are about 5-7 favorite props of mine since they're classic, simple and relaxed. When posing in a bucket, I truly adore for the wrap to overflow the side of the bucket. This adds a feminine flair. Of course, baby looks super precious snuggled in the bucket with her hands gently and delicately placed beneath her face. Her sweet full head of hair is simply so stunning I used very few bonnets when styling. She also has bee stung lips and chubby cheeks - the perfect little cherub! Truly a gorgeous newborn baby!

Sometimes we do a variation of posing in the bucket, shown below, to show another style of wrapping. I chose to do the "tootsie" style of wrapping in the bucket so that session matches.

Bringing your precious baby home from the birthing center or hospital is one of the most momentous moments in your life! It's a whirlwind of excitement, a little apprehension, but mostly unconditional, tender love. You're now a family of three. When the dust settles, you make your way to my studio and we capture all that is stunning, fresh and beautiful about your darling family. Breathe in baby's scent. Hold her close. Remember the feelings of her kicking, and the pure joy in seeing hearing her heartbeat. At this time, all baby knows is the sound of your voice and it comforts her. I am honored you've chosen me to document your baby and truly love this portion of our newborn session. All collections do come with family posing because this fleeting time deserves to be documented. Welcome to parenthood! It's a wonderful place to be!

This sweet couple visited my Houston Newborn Studio when baby girl was just around 7 days old. They came all the way from Southwest Houston, but were in great spirits when they arrived. Baby girl is named Audrina and she is simply marvelous! As soon as Mom took her out of the car seat, I could not wait to hold and snuggle her. Her sweet, chubby cheeks and gorgeous full head of dark, thick hair had me swooning! I truly felt like the luckiest gal in the whole world to have this baby in my studio!

In order to achieve unique, creative and breathtaking newborn portraiture, I use a plethora of cozy wrapping styles to ensure your photos are dynamic. Wrapping is a huge cornerstone to all of my newborn sessions. While wrapping may sound a little boring, I urge you to check out more information on adorable styles of newborn wrapping so you may see how stunning it looks! So cozy, sweet, natural, and organic - the perfect way to showcase you darling bundle of joy. This in mind, after baby was fed and burped, I wrapped her in the cute style in which her little legs are out and her hands are delicately posed beneath her chin. 

During our time together, expect your parent and family posing to be connected and lifestyle in nature. To elaborate, while I do a set up of you looking at the camera and smiling, it truly makes my heart so full to see you interacting with your precious cherub and partner. As a mama to three little ladies, I truly treasure the images that focus on depth, interactions and emotions. This can be gazing at your baby, smiling at your wife, holding your husband close, or just being together as a family. As a Houston Newborn Photographer, one of which specializes in gorgeous baby portraits, it a complete honor to work with you. My job is to ensure you're at ease and have plenty of direction to guide you throughout the process.

One of my favorite father and newborn photography poses in where dad's hands are placed gently upon baby's chest. Baby is snuggled so sweetly against him. This is the only time in life where your baby is so small, so new to the world, that they fit in the palm of your hands. Soak up that newborn goodness, tell time to slow down, and just treasure these precious family portraits with your brand new baby. 

Back-lit studio family photos are absolutely a huge favorite of mine! This is where the light is behind the subject and illuminates you. There's a soft halo of gorgeous light and baby's precious profile is always exemplified. I always jokingly call this pose "lion king" because we've all seen the famous scene in which Simba is held up into the sky, ha! However, have no fear: baby is always secure between his parents. 

When posing Mom and Newborn Baby together, I love there to be a sense of peace. Serenity should surround the portrait; a sense of timeless beauty should be evoked. By dressing in soft neutrals an organic tone is given to the session. Timeless, classic, fresh, clean and pure - this is my vision. You help bring it to life by dressing in lighter tones.
