Little Sitter & Baby Milestone Photography Prep List | Studio Portrait Sessions

Preparing for Little One’s Session with Sarah Borchgrevink Photography

Congrats on your sweet cherub hitting these absolutely adorable baby milestones such as tummy time, sitting up unassisted, walking, clapping, and truly showing off that infectious personality that makes your mama heart sing! Thank you for selecting SBP to photograph this momentous time in your life! Timeless, classic, and rustic inspired baby photography is my jam and what I am known for as one of Houston’s highest rated photographers. I promise you’re in good hands and I’m so excited to work together!

What You Can Expect:

When booking a session with Sarah you can expect a customer service driven experience. Details such as upfront and transparent pricing for digital galleries, consultations, option to tour the studio, full gallery samples, and staying on top of client communication and having a clear path of steps to follow are just a few examples of our time together.

You may also expect the following:

The Details for Baby Studio Portraiture Appointments

  • Consider booking your session in advance, if possible, as the calendar often fills quickly, particularly if you’re interested in a Saturday session date.

  • Milestone sessions are available 6 days per week.

  • Sessions are typically best early in the morning, as Little One is most refreshed then, or right after their nap time.

  • All outfits and styling are provided for your baby, though you are welcome to bring a special item from home, should you feel inclined.

  • My branding is timeless, classic, vintage-inspired, and rustic. I do not offer themes such as Minnie Mouse, Paw Patrol, or things of the like as removing distractions and focusing on your little one’s beauty is the heart of my portrait style. In Houston there are thousands of amazing photographers so it is always best to make sure you’re a good fit for the photographer you choose. The Houston Baby and Infant Milestone Portfolio is a reflection of what I offer.

The Morning of Your Session with Sarah:

  • Once Baby is awake for the day, feed baby a snack before you drive to my studio. A well-fed baby is a happy photography subject. I know when I’m hungry I don’t feel like being photographed, ha!

  • Please dress Baby in an outfit that does not leave lines on their skin. Sometimes babies are naked during their milestone portraits and this makes sure their skin looks soft.

  • Please arrive about 10 minutes early. Your session begins at time you selected your appointment via the online booking & scheduling page. There are often multiple sessions in one day so this will ensure we use all of your time wisely.

  • Please bring diaper bag essentials. We will wipe Baby’s face with a baby wipe right before we begin the session so that Baby’s face is clean and there are no leftover crumbs from their breakfast, ha!

  • Please feel free to bring a special toy Baby loves. This can be helpful when capturing smiles. You’re also welcome to let me know of any favorite songs. My son, Jack, for instance, loves “baby shark,” ha!

After our session

  • 14 days after your session takes place you will receive an online proofing gallery of images from our time together. Your gallery will share how to select your images, download your portraits, safely archive them in the cloud, and also a great list of labs to use for your printing needs.

Before you go:

I look forward to working with you and meeting your baby! Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

Studio features:

Inside the studio you will find the perfect floor plan for amazing baby photography and a wonderful experience for new parents. The studio features the following:

  • A lobby and reception area so parents have a comfortable place to wait. There are also snacks, of course, and a coffee bar. Inside this lobby area you’ll also find a playroom for young children to hang out in whilst their sibling is being photographed.

  • The mothers lounge is designed for the comfort of new mothers. This is a nursing, feeding, or resting room so you may feed your baby, in comfort and peace, before and after your session. I do have four young children myself and recognize that feeding Baby is a huge part of your day. This mothers room will allow you to relax and to leave your session so Baby has a full tummy for the car ride home.

  • The prop room has anything you could ever want for accessories! Inside my prop room, which is labeled storage, you will find a huge array of props, perfectly organized. Here is where I will keep my hundreds of props such as buckets, bowls, baskets, wooden bowls, newborn antique beds, hats, bonnets, headbands, wraps, textiles, backdrops, and more!

  • The all white lifestyle room for family, child, or maternity sessions. This room is going to feature a big white bed, white couch, and have beautiful flooring, crown molding, and floor to ceiling light to make for the dreamiest of sessions. This can be used for little sitter sessions, baby milestones, and even family photos during your newborn session. This room will focus on capturing families naturally and with connections.

  • The posed newborn room featuring backdrops, three custom wood walls, and comfortable seating for you during your time in studio. This room is about 500 square feet, within itself, and will have the same look at my current studio. This means I’ll be keeping the three rustic wood walls my husband, Kevin, designed for me as well as all of the seamless paper backdrops. Everything will be set up in advance for your session for a seamless experience.

Amenities:

The building has monitored security, ample surface parking plus controlled access to garage covered parking, as well as a deli downstairs.

Online Booking Available

A new feature that has recently been implemented is online booking for your sessions. This is how you seamlessly sign your contract, pay your deposit, and then select your session date & time from a calendar. This is designed for busy parents who like simplicity. See more about Booking Your Session Online.

Thank you for reading about my new centrally located baby portrait studio! I will be updating the blog with new information and photographs as construction is completed.

Spring Has Sprung! Botanic Infant Photography featuring Florals and Greenery

The studio welcomes the 2019 Spring Season with decorative blossoms, garland, and blossoms for the freshest baby bud newborn photography in Houston!

spring inspired baby portraits

In honor of the first official day of spring, which is March 20th, I’m super stoked to share images inspired by love of florets, perennials, vines, and all things beautiful. As a professional newborn, baby, and infant portrait artist, I am inspired by a love of color, textures, and seasonal items, such as the freshness you find from floral items. If this is your first time visiting my blog, welcome! I’m excited you’re here and I hope you cozy up and smile when you see the cutest babies who have visited! Let’s get started!

Spring Is in the air!

Spring is in the air and is finally here! Not only do we have longer days, as daylight savings time is currently in effect, things just feel lighter and even more hopeful! While Houston does not have a huge array of seasons, we are always thankful for a reprieve from the heat, but this past winter has been pretty bleak for our Gulf Coast city, so seeing blue skies and less rain has been an absolute joy!

What does Spring Symbolize?

Fun fact: spring often symbolizes new life. Pairing greenery and flowers with the birth of a new baby is a creative way to showcase all the newness and sacred joy in bringing home an adorable bundle! Joy and love, moreover, are also symbolized through spring and few things such as love, hope, youth, and growth are embodied quite the way a new arrival showcases so this in mind, one cannot help but see the parallels between the season and births.

Baby Milestone Sessions | 6-12 Months New

milk bath idea with one year old infant girl

Baby and Infant Milestone Sessions take place in my Houston Photography Studio 6 days per week and are truly a huge treat to photograph! In fact, part of why these are so special is many of my clients, ages 3-12 months old, start out as newborn clients, or even maternity, so seeing them sit up unassisted, smash cakes, play in the bubble bath, and embody all things chubby and sweet baby, is a really fun morning! There is a very popular set of memberships for these clients, too, so click on over to this post to see more details about these.

Now that you know a little more about what constitutes infant photography, I adore using greenery, eucalypti, garland, vines, etc.

Favorite colors I also like to have on hand:

  • mint

  • corals

  • pale green hues such as sage

  • peaches

  • lavender

  • pale pink

  • cream

  • leafy green

They’re truly a gift and all of the little details matter from macro images, buckets and floor props, wrapping, family and sibling portraits, and of course bean bag posing, too! Creating stunning works of baby art gives me life and I’m super stoked about these springtime renewal setups below. Keep scrolling to see more!
