Houston Texas Baby Photographer: First Birthday Portraits + Outdoor Cake Smash

There's nothing more sweet than turning the big one! This is a beautiful milestone because it's a time to celebrate all the lovely things that have happened over the last year from the birth of baby, bringing him or her home from the hospital, seeing them grow and change daily, ect. This in mind, what's more fun than a sunset one year old photography session complete with a festive cake, pink tutu and even an adorable bow?

Here's to keeping things sweet! 

Her beautiful eyes are one of the first things I notice about her! I cannot help but smile. What a fun one year old cake smash session! Cypress is a great location because it feels rural (and it is!) but it's also close to all major highways so traveling is a breeze. 

I love the "in between" moments of a baby's photography session; Mom often has a precious hat for little one to wear and sometimes the kiddo does not want to wear it. As you can see, this cutie was teasing us! Her facial expressions are darling. I hope Mom loves these!

Another part of a outdoor cake smashes I really enjoy are the details. Baby reaching for the cake is the best! Their little fingers get messy and their eyes widen once they realize the cake is sweet...and all for them. We always take our time and let Baby explore. The photos are meant to be beautiful; this is achieved through patience and just letting the baby be little. 

Hey! That looks delicious! I don't think she's going to share, but that's okay because you only turn one once and you deserve a cake all to yourself. It's hard work being a precious little! ;)

It's not a cake smash if someone doesn't get their toes dirty! We had a wonderful time as you can see. The messier the better. There's no time to be a little lady when you have cake in front of you.

Family Photographer in Northwest Houston, TX: Outdoor and Natural Light Portraits

Well, good morning and howdy to you! On this beautiful sunshine filled day I am previewing one of my longtime clients. 

As a Houston photographer, I enjoy offering newborn, maternity, child and family sessions because I'm able to see your family grow. I capture milestones and help tell your story with each life event being one of the chocolate chips to your cookie in life if you will. That's right - I just made a food reference, haha! 

Anyway, enough about me - let's show off this stunning family and the beautiful evening light! The little ones are too cute! Even their fur baby behaved like an angel - this made things easy for me. We also cannot forget their incredibly handsome little man, Miles. 

After family set ups, I always break the rest of the session into small groups. For example, as a mama, I know I personally would like to have a variety of portraits from the siblings together, to Dad with kiddos, Mom with kiddos, individual, and even photos of just Mom and Dad.

The Temperatures are Down | Winter is the Best time for Houston Family Photos

Greetings y'all! It's been a little quiet for the past few days as I've been very busy photographing all my squishy, precious and undeniably beautiful newborn clients. It seems every mama is having her baby right on schedule, so I've been blessed to have many newborn snuggles over the last week. However, this morning I'm thrilled to preview a winter family session for you. 

As a Houston photographer, I enjoy family sessions because they honorattributes we hold most dear. They take the time to remind us of our love and commitment to not only our children and spouse but to preserving who you are, in this very moment. Moreover, because I'm also a mama (to three precious little girls!), I can personally attest to the importance of these images. 

For the S Family session, I had them meet me at a local park in Cypress, TX. I adore this location because it feels timeless and offers little distraction. This showcases your family. Through connection based posing and removal of many props, I design your sessions. Outfits are coordinated with locations, too, and while they're stylish they remain classic.

As you can see, I like to start each family session with a variety of poses. We utilize nature and different backgrounds, too. These images are meant to act as archival art pieces in your home and generally I help clients select their favorite so we can order the best image as a larger wall art piece. Traditional gallery wrapped canvases or mounted prints look fantastic in either the entry way of your home or perhaps above the fireplace.

At the end of the session, Dad asked me if they could cut loose and just have some fun. Of course, I said yes! The family photos are meant to reflect traditional values such as love however they're also designed to embrace who you are. This portion was a lot of fun - even if I sat in an ant pile whilst being 42 weeks pregnant, haha!
