Family photography is always special because each session I document is about embracing who you are, selecting a perfect location, and coordinating is all together with your outfit selections. Each session is different; each is unique to who you are. I tell you story, and it's an honor to do so.

For this lovely brood, I had them meet me in Cypress, a suburb of Houston. This location features absolutely delicious evening light but is also flexible enough for morning sessions, too. It's also a winner for maternity, outdoor newborns and even children's cake smashes. Yes! Those are just as fun!

During our time together, expect to have fun. No. I command it! Laugh. Play. Run. Toss your daughter in the air. Snuggle your spouse. Tell jokes. Tell me about yourself. You name it - I will listen. However, I'll also give you lots of direction and make sure everything looks good. You see, as a Houston Family Photographer, I enjoy the images having a cohesive look yet also feeling laid back and relaxed. Gone are the days in which everyone is boring and stiff; no way! It's a new era known as modern, fresh and lifestyle. These are the portraits in which you're being yourself. We're having fun. And yes - I'm showing off all your family bonds and connections and adoration because THOSE are what matter. Those are the glue within your family. And this is what you'll treasure. I encourage laughter. Your joy is welcomed! 

And of course, your session is super diverse. Your final gallery consists of many set ups from photos of the entire family, mom with the little ones, dad with the little ones, and even mom and dad together since you probably have not had any portraits taken since your wedding day. If you've been married for more than 5 minutes, that's just too long to wait! These all make for perfectly matched wall art, too. That's the goal - for the images to be on the walls and not your hard drive collecting dust.

The golden hour. Ahhhh! Pure magic. If you follow my blog, you may notice that this is when most of my sessions take place; it's right as the sun is coming up or going down. Either morning or evening is a lovely time because it's golden and a sense of peace surrounds the entire session. As a Houston Maternity Photographer, this is an essential aspect to my time with you as I document your baby bump!

Please allow me to introduce this stunning-mama-to-be, N. She's expecting her first little one and when she contacted me to photograph her pregnancy, I was both elated and ecstatic to celebrate this special time for her! I'm a mama to three little girls, so I know how important this time is. Your heart is being prepared to meet the greater love of your life and documenting your baby bump with a natural light, outdoor maternity session is a fantastic way to commemorate all that is beautiful, feminine, and soft within your pregnancy. 

The waterfall location I use is super popular, and while it is best at evening I do adore this location for nursing portraiture, too. The sun softly sets behind the rocks lending a natural, organic tone to your images. The light reflects perfectly off of the pool of water and the unique, stone entry makes the session feel like it's not in the middle of the Houston suburbs, Cypress TX to be precise! ;)

I encourage your partner to participate during the maternity session. They're just as important as YOU and are part of your story. Photography is just that - storytelling. It's a preservation of your milestones and an absolute honor to do! I always leave my sessions with my heart warmed and filled with joy. I look forward to presenting you with a sensational gallery filled with images that perfectly reflect who you are, capture the spirit of your pregnancy, and truly honor the love between a couple as they expect your first child. There's not a lot of bells and whistles to what I do; I simply use the sun to guide me and I pose you based upon your dynamic. I love what I do. It's that's simple.

As I sit here looking at one of the latest newborn baby girl's I had in front of my camera, I cannot help but feel blessed. As a Houston Newborn Photographer, working with your precious cherub little one's is a monumental responsibility because they're only a newborn for two weeks. That's right - two weeks. In a blink of an eye they change so quickly and it's not until you hold a brand new baby do you realize that time is truly fleeting. We're told this our entire life, but it still doesn't make it any easier. The newborn time period is cherished because this is when your baby is fresh, new and pure. The world welcomes them with open arms and a newborn portrait session is the perfect way to honor and preserve your wee one!

All of my newborn sessions have one goal: to showcase all that is newborn. This includes curly poses such as wraps and soft textiles. I also provide everything for your session, from start to finish, unless you have any special family heirlooms you'd like included. In that case, simply lay them out for me and I'll be sure to incorporate them for you.

For my time with this beautiful baby girl, I focused on utilizing a soft color scheme that would not overwhelm her delicate nature. I adore muted colors because they look lovely against baby's skin and they also are both timeless and classic. This ensures the images forever look perfect as they grace your walls and can be passed down. Your sessions are family heirloom you'll treasure!

She has the most magnificent baby rolls! Her little arms, hands, ears and profile are beautiful and capturing these details will certainly make you smile. I like to showcase many diverse angles during your time with me so we may ensure all of baby's features are perfectly preserved. 

And of course, baby is gently handled throughout the entire session. She is guided ever so carefully to ensure the utmost safety. I also listen to baby's cues and pay attention to her body language to ensure she feels comfortable in the poses. If baby dislikes being on their tummy, for instance, we switch things up, but if baby really "settles" into a pose, such as the tooshie one below, we spend a little more time here to make the most of each set up.

Sometimes I'm lucky enough to get eye contact with baby! This is also my favorite bonnet. I bring it to every single session because it is appropriate for either gender and is simple. The props should enhance your baby - not detract or be distracting. This sweet little bonnet, for instance, frames baby's face beautifully and shows off the chubby cheeks, bee stung lips, and little button nose! Her delicate fingers softly hold a stuffed bear and this is everything I could hope for in a session - just the perfect little baby girl!

And finally, the floor props are a lovely way to end the session! I provide two set ups, unless you have a specific prop from your home you'd like to use, such as the wagon presented below. For family heirlooms or restored items, these can be lovely as they had a special dynamic to your gallery due to the sentimental value. The antique scale, however, is from my own prop collection and sweet C looks perfect as the mint surrounds her and is layered.
