There is something incredibly special about photographing an expecting mother. It's almost as if you feel like you're part of something big. And in a way I am. I tell your story through beautiful natural light, connection based posing, and utilizing stunning locations that do celebrate your baby bump. However, in addition to documenting your pregnancy, I also offer newborn sessions, sitter 6 month milestone sessions and a 12 month session cake smash for the first year of baby's life. I'm honored to work with you and I truly enjoy getting to know you throughout our maternity, newborn, sitter and first birthday photos. 

Mom is absolutely beaming! The entire session she radiated joy and peace. Her baby is due in October and I'm already looking forward to meeting the precious earth angel! The entire session I had a smile on my face; everyone simply had a wonderful time. The sessions are laid back and very easy going. There's no pressure to perform. There's no awkwardness. Instead, it's just my camera and us. I guide and expertly direct you while also ensuring you feel comfortable, at ease and enjoy the experience. While it's quite warm during this time of the year, I do offer shaded locations that take place around sunrise or sunset.

As a Houston mama and photographer, I adore working with both families and children. It's always such a fun experience because I pride myself on ensuring your time with me is laid back, fun, positive, and of course results in beautiful portraits of your little ones and family! Typical sessions take place around sunrise or sunset during the golden hour; through the use of warm, connected posing and a vast array of prime lenses I preserve all that is beautiful in your family. I encourage little ones to run and play, and for you and your spouse to interact casually with the kiddos and one another.

Of course, your family session at Sarah Borchgrevink Photography includes a variety of set ups from the entire family, dad with the kiddos, mom with the kiddos, the little ones together and individual portraits of the kiddos.

I am often asked what my favorite sessions are to photograph. Without a doubt, hands down, newborn portraiture brings such joy to my heart! All the details from the way the light fills baby's face, to documenting all that is newborn from eyelashes, tufts of hair, their sweet little chests rising and falling as they sleep. It's indescribable. The room is also 90 degrees so it may not be for the faint of heart, but it's worth every second. I pour my heart and give my soul to every baby I photograph. This may seem dramatic unless you've worked with me before but providing you with safe posing, amazing textiles, and fantastic light is the heart of my portraiture work. However, maternity sessions are a close second favorite! When you're pregnant, it's such an exciting time because you are carrying a precious, perfect little life. You feel your baby's kicks and a photo shoot showcasing your pregnancy is a wonderful way to celebrate all that is feminine and soft. I encourage your spouse to participate too so that we can also portray the love between expecting parents. Here is a lovely family who I had to honor of working with! I'll be previewing some of my favorite images from their outdoor maternity session as well as their in home posed newborn portion. Thanks for stopping by! 

After the maternity session, I simply told the lovely couple to let me know when Baby arrives. They ended up waiting to find out the gender of the baby and they called Baby "Sunshine" while they were expecting. The nursery is yellow and filled with all that is soft and yellow and just sweet as can be. So, during the maternity session we used some cute props from their home that are also in the nursery, such as this sunshine sign.

And of course, when baby was born...IT'S A GIRL! A beautiful, chubby, perfect, and ever so stunning bundle of joy. This in mind, I designed a session that reflected both the nursery colors (soft yellow for the sunshine nickname) and then also incorporating my favorite rustic, antique cradle and soft blushes, cream, and other hues such as mauve, apricot and peach.
