Howdy, folks! This weekend has been filled with lovely family sessions and lots of precious kiddos. I especially like the morning sessions since it’s been cool and fantastic weather – usually in the low 60’s. However, between sessions I am taking time to blog the recent home lifestyle sessions I’ve documented, particularly newborns. I often do these either during the week or middle of the day when the light is nice and bright outdoors. This makes for lovely indoor images and illuminates the room perfectly. Home lifestyle sessions are a wonderful way to celebrate your newborn because they’re all about connection based posing; it’s informal though I do provide direction so the images don’t resemble snapshots and have a cohesive look to the collection. The W family is a wonderful example of why I enjoy documenting newborns in this manner; the nursery is styled to perfection with gorgeous lavender, mint, and cream. Mom and Dad are completely in love with Baby. I hope they love their images for years to come!

I'd also like to note how many wonderful sessions I've had with this sweet clan. We did a festive Texas pregnancy announcement and gender reveal, seen here, and we also did a traditional posed newborn session, too, when Baby was 12 days old. You can view her squishiness here.

Good morning! Today I am previewing one of the latest natural light and outdoor maternity sessions I had the honor of documenting. However, we also did family photos, too, since I love to include everyone. It’s part of your story and adds diversity to your final copies. The D family is sweet as can be; Mom is radiant with her stunning bump and big brother C was so much fun! Of course, Dad is completely in love. What a perfect bunch! I had them meet me at a fir grove of trees; this is nice location for families because it’s located near Bridgeland and also has easy access. It also has wonderful evening light which makes me swoon!

I always start with photos little ones first. This is so your little one can have an enjoyable experience and can hang out while we photograph the maternity portion.

After we photographed Big Brother, C, I spent some time with the entire family. They are too cute! I love the outfits, too.

The D family and maternity session was wonderful to document because they took direction so well. I liked posing them and having fun with the angles, snuggles, and telling them to be who they are. There is so much love between them!

Finally, I moved onto the maternity portion of Mom's session. She is glowing! I absolutely adore the light, the styling - her beautiful bump. She's perfect.

Whew – this week has been extremely busy! Fall family sessions are officially upon us and I have been behind my computer quite a bit as I retouch sessions, but I’ve also been out and about frequently as I’m averaging 8-9 sessions per week. However, no worries! I enjoy being busy and working with everyone. Between all of the family sessions, however, I have been making time for my most precious and petite clients – newborns! Ah, there’s nothing like a newborn session. The styling, the snuggling, the posing – it’s all very rewarding. I’d love to introduce K to you! Her sweet mama has been a wonderful client of mine and we’ve done everything from pregnancy announcement, to gender reveal (oooh glitter!) to even sneaking in some shots of her bump, haha! Now that her little love bug has arrived I could not wait to meet her. She’s perfect. There’s no denying.

For K's session, I will be breaking the blog post up into two parts; (1) The posed newborn and (2) the lifestyle session we also incorporated. Today I'll just be showing off the posed, traditional aspect though, but stay tuned for next week's post on lifestyle and connection based posing. :-)

For K's session, I selected all the colors that would match her nursery. Colors such as mint, pink, cream, lavender and blush are lovely additions to any little girl's nursery!

I also brought several custom crowns and tiebacks to adorn her. She is a princess :-)

I finished K's newborn session with several different wraps and textiles; I used a circular basket and soft layers to show off baby and add a feminine, organic touch.
