Good morning, y'all! Today is Monday, and as far as Monday's go, it's pretty swell! My eldest, Emma, is at school this morning, and Lucy, my youngest, is hanging out with Dad (as he stays home with our children) and they're enjoying a plethora of activities such as building with blocks, yummy breakfast, and a little "Daniel the Tiger", haha!

As a Cypress newborn photographer, I truly look forward to the newborn sessions. I offer both lifestyle and posed newborn work to fit your needs; you may visit the "investment" tab at anytime to see the sessions I offer. I have something for everyone from outdoors and natural light photography sessions, to home lifestyle and documentary styles of work, ect. It is also only September, but I am currently booking sessions are far as May of 2016, so if you *are* looking for a family photographer for fall/winter 2015, I do have a few spots left, particularly in November for days during the week, M-F.

Anyway, enough about me. Let's chat about this precious chunk of a newborn. Oh...my goodness. He is a beautiful baby with perfect skin, bee stung lips and lashes for days. His newborn photography session is a dream; he is so curly and slept wonderfully for me. The following are some of my favorite images from his session.

I adore this sweet little bonnet! For his first set up, I brought a deep blue posing fabric and the bonnet to highlight all his features. Mom and Dad requested his head be covered so I always have a large variety of items for you to select from.

After we finished the blue background, I switched him to a neutral colored backdrop for more diversity and looks in his final gallery.

Howdy, y’all!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day and enjoying this interesting Houston weather. One morning it’s storming, the next minute it’s sunny. Phew, how’s a photographer to keep up?! On a business note, however, I am blogging my latest natural light and on location photography session. As a photographer, I specialize in photographing little ones, squishy newborns, baby bumps and of course your family milestones. And hey – we like to keep sessions light and fun. When you turn one year old, it’s customary to smash a cake and get a little messy…but what if your favorite food is watermelon? That in mind, a watermelon smash was in store for the last tot I had in front of my camera.

I had the adorable L family meet me in one of my favorite Cypress locations; it’s in Coles Crossing and offers a plethora of photogenic variety. There is a lake with fountains, walking trails, a bridge overlooking a playground and body of water, open field of trees, and also a dock that jets out into the lake I mentioned. There is also perfect parking, so this makes the location ideal for sessions involving props. The following images are some of my favorite from the session. Of course, no session is complete without family set ups so I’ll be previewing those, too!

In the beginning, the little one was a wee bit tentative as she looked around, unsure of why we placed two large watermelons in her vicinity. At this point, I simply use my Canon 135 f/2L or Canon 200 mm f/2.8L and observe from many meters away. This way, I'm not in her space and we can see her genuinely exploring the set up.

Of course, I had to invite big brother to join in on the fun! It wasn't planned, but I never mind an improvised change. :-)

Good morning, y'all!

Labor Day has passed and I had a wonderful time spending the weekend in the sun with my little girls and handsome hunk of a hubby! We smoked brisket, chicken, and sausage, played outside, had family time, and even saw some great friend. It was a wonderful weekend, and though simple, it is always a nice way to recharge. Anyway, enough about me!

As a photographer, I enjoy offering two styles of newborn portraiture work: lifestyle and posed. Lifestyle work is a laid back approach that has informal posing and less direction; the tone of the session showcases your love, bond, relationships, and connections as a family, particularly in the precious moments of welcoming a new baby into your home. While posed newborn work is still beautiful, more props are utilized and the sessions are several hour as we soothe baby and mold him or her into the perfect curly positions. Because the styles vary, I offer both and guide you, as the client, in the right direction for your family. Each client is different, as are your needs. I'm here to help. :-)

Baby M and his sweet parents were a joy to work with! For their home lifestyle session, we kept the posing very informal, for the reasons mentioned above, and focused on their beautiful nursery. Congrats to y'all! I am excited to see you at your six month session this fall/winter 2015.

Sometimes babies make the sweetest faces. They may be alert and awake and that's okay for lifestyle sessions. These are also ideal for babies that are a little older.

Baby M had such a sweet connection with Mom. He would just gaze into her eyes and she held him close. His little toes are precious! They're perfect. :-)

I adore each and every detail in the nursery! The color scheme is particularly lovely; so warm and inviting, but also a pop of color to act as a focal point. Each accessory was lovingly selected and one can see the care that went into the design. And that big comfy chair looks super inviting! What a perfect photo opportunity!
