Greetings! Good morning to you. Thanks for stopping by! My name is Sarah and I'm a Houston TX Maternity & Newborn Photographer. I am a full service photography studio offering the best of both worlds: gorgeous outdoor maternity photography and a stunning, all white & organic studio for my clients to utilize. In addition, I also offer fantastic boutique prints & products to grace your walls. Now that you're here, welcome! I'm excited to preview this beautiful on location maternity session that took place in Northwest Houston.

This glowing mother to be is simply ethereal! About a year ago, she contacted me to book a portrait membership to my professional photography services. At the time, she was not even pregnant, though she told me her and the hubby were trying for a baby and she wanted to gather all information about my custom photography so that when the time came they could plan for investment. This is completely humbling because while I do run a full time business that feeds my family, I'm a mom, and when I'm not shooting, I'm all about family and being with my own husband and kiddos. Basically, I'm just in the suburbs trying to keep it real, haha! This in mind, when a client books before she's even pregnant, it makes me realize exactly how special these sessions are because they preserve the meaningful. 

The membership to Sarah Borchgrevink Photography includes either a studio or outdoor maternity session, a posed newborn session, a sitter or 6 month session and of course a 12 month session. The payments are made in installments. You receive fantastic products such as an heirloom signature album though you always have some nifty digital files so you may share on Facebook or with loved ones. 

For our time together, we used a gorgeous location in Cypress TX. It's very popular and not at all a hidden gem, though many parents request the waterfall for maternity portraits. All of my sessions that are outdoors begin as the sun is setting. This ensures optimal light and fantastic photos! I also help you with outfits and can refer you to an amazing hair and make up artist who is just around the corner. :-) And of course, I lead the entire session, guiding you to ensure you're posed perfectly and we showcase the treasured bonds and connections between an expecting couple. 

This couple is clearly in love! The entire time they kept me laughing, smiling, and were a true joy to spend the evening with! They are carefree and will be wonderful parents to their baby girl. She's arriving in May, so I am looking forward to meeting her!

Hi there! Welcome to my blog. Here is where I preview the latest sessions I'm working on. If this is your first time here, please know I love all things squishy newborn and family. These are my specialty and I delight in working with you! Located in Northwest Houston, my gorgeous all white photography studio is my special place and where I most enjoy working; here I provide luxury photography services, boutique prints and products, and an impeccable experience you're sure to rave about. 

Today's blog post focuses on a little cherub baby girl who came to visit when she was around 10 days old. My favorite age to take newborn sessions are between 6 and 14 days new; this is when babies are most curly and moldable. Her sweet mama is a fan of rustic yet timeless styling, so for her session we incorporated a gorgeous color scheme of mauve, mints, ivory, a little tan and a fantastic vintage quilt, bucket, and rocker! Swoon swoon swoon! 

Little one slept beautifully for me. The entire three hour session, she never once made a peep or even opened her eyes. Her parents did a fantastic job prepping her for our session. Sometimes parents are a little worried about how the session will go: do not worry! I am professionally trained in the custom art of newborn safety and portrait photography; I provide a detailed prep guide and list of instructions so you're up to speed on how the session will go from arrival, feedings, changing, the temperature of my studio, how to dress, what I provide, any snack breaks or interesting info (wifi password, lol!!) etc. The experience is seamless for you. Bring your baby and let me handle the rest. Think of me as your sitter. I adore my time with your precious baby and cannot express how much I look forward to presenting you with an amazing gallery of timeless, organic, and unique baby portraiture. I pride myself on creating gorgeous photographs of this special time. Good morning! I hope you're well! I'm happy to see you're on my blog and are stopping by to hopefully see more information about the family portraits and baby photography I offer in the Houston area. My name is Sarah and my specialization is newborn photography, however, I also document all things family. Family is the heart of your home and I cannot imagine photographing a newborn baby and not including family or parent images. You spent nine months growing little one, so images of Baby cradled ever so gently in your arms are a must. These thoughts in mind, I adore working with growing families and showing new milestones in your life, such as your joy in becoming new parents.

Please allow me to introduce this sweet family! They happen to have a baby plan membership to Sarah Borchgrevink Photography; this means they've booked a newborn session, 6 month session and a 12 month cake smash/portrait session for little one. As always, family photos are included in each session though baby is the star. I look forward to photographing baby as he grows, and to show his milestones such as  crawling, clapping, standing, walking and eventually smashing a cake! It's an honor to be part of the first year! Parents cherish these images and it's not until little one is older do you look back on these and think, "Wow...it goes by quickly!" That's why I offer a wonderful membership: to preserve this time for parents and to make things easier for you. With one photographer, you're using someone you're comfortable with; you've researched reviews, know their policies, understand how they work and their creative process. You also have a similar style of portraits on your walls so that you are sure to have a cohesive collection. 

For our posed newborn session, they booked my professional services before I had a studio so I came to their home in The Woodlands TX, located just north of Houston. The nursery is decorated to perfection with adorable wall art. Baby will sleep peacefully in here and I can envision many evenings of baby being rocked, held, and as he gets older he can sit in the glider with sweet mama and read books. There's nothing like the newborn time. They're fresh and sweet and new - they become part of the world and your love for them is all encompassing.

For all of my newborn sessions, either lifestyle or posed, I wrap baby. It makes baby feel ever so cozy and secure; it reminds them of being in the womb and adds a layer of security. It is of the utmost importance your baby have a fantastic portraiture experience so upon booking you receive a prep guide giving instruction on how to prep your baby. Once I arrive, I wrap baby in one of the lovely organic textile wraps I offer and make sure they look curly, sweet and you can see their face perfectly. 

After family photos, I move straight into the posed portion. For this baby, his mama requested neutrals, light blue, tan, and of course some grey. If you follow my blog, you know I L-O-V-E- grey. I adore grey on boys and baby girls; the accent colors may be changed to reflect gender, too.

All newborn sessions also include macro images. These are the up close details of your sweet baby you'll treasure. Fingers, toes, lips, their profile - I capture it all.
