Good afternoon! On this chilly afternoon, at least for Houston, I am excited to preview a beautiful outdoor family session for you. Part of the joy in photographing families and children is simple: seeing you grow. For instance, please allow me to introduce you to the E family. They're long time clients of mine and every time I see them I walk away with a huge smile on my face. They're fun and just an absolute pleasure to be around. Down to earth. Laid back. Easy going. They make me laugh. Plus, their kids are cute as can be! I have done several sessions for them from cake smashes, in home family portraits, and newborn sessions. 

For our time together, we did a sunrise session in beautiful Cypress, TX! I love this location because the light filters ever so softly through the trees. Plus, early morning sessions are fantastic for little ones. They're often used to waking up early for school or daycare; so you wake up, head to the session, and then go have breakfast afterwards or some parents even go to the zoo. It's a fun way to start a day focused on family. When your kiddos are small, you truly will treasure the one on one time, especially as they age.

The little ones, as usual, are full of sass and personality! I could not stop chuckling during this set up. Mischievious grins. Beautfiful children. Soulful light. It does not get much better, huh?

This past fall season, I was honored to meet many new Houston families and children for their outdoor portrait sessions. As a Houston Photographer, I'm based in Cypress, which is located in Northwest Houston, though I do offer locations throughout the Houston area. This in mind, I am very excited to preview some of the families who kept their sneak previews on social media under wraps until the holiday season passed.

Please allow me to introduce the stunning C family! When Mom contacted me to book their natural light family portraits, she was sweet as could be! I could not wait to meet them. For their session, we met at a local park that features lovely walking paths, fantastic golden light and of course my favorite - a natural setting sure to look timeless!

Perhaps my favorite aspect of this session are the outfits. Mom did a terrific job styling everything, too! The maroon looks beautiful with the the navy and little one is simply precious with the bow on her head. Their kiddo was super sweet! She just hung out and made my job easy.

Narrowing down the previews for the blog post was truly impossible! This is one of the sessions where I easily had nearly 60 images to present them with! I truly pride myself on offering a plethora of set ups during you session; this includes photos of the entire family, images of the child(ren), and of course even a few of Mom and Dad. I know, once you're married and have little ones, often either Mom or Dad are behind the camera when you're taking photos on your own. Because of this, I always do a few set ups of you and your partner as a couple to ensure you have updated photos of yourself, since often you have not had any portraits taken since your wedding. 

Moreover, sometimes when booking, parents are unsure about the posing or are worried they may feel uncomfortable in front of the camera. Have no fear! My job, as your family photographer, is to guide you seamlessly and ensure you have a fun and laid back experience. Portraits should be enjoyable. They should be easy going. They should also be stress free.

Soft Winter Light + A Beautiful and Glowing Pregnant Mother to Be

An outdoor maternity session, especially in beautiful Houston Texas, is never a bad way to spend my evening. As a photographer, I enjoy photographing maternity sessions because aside from my portraiture work, I'm also a mama and wife. My three little girls are what make my heart beat, and when photographing a pregnancy sessions for an expecting couple, I remember all the special details from my own pregnancies. This includes feeling little one kick, imagining what baby's, and of course yearning to hold them. 9 months does go by quickly but we can all agree meeting baby is the best moment!

As you can see, this couple makes my job super easy. They're laid back and really took direction well. I do encourage your spouses to participate in the maternity session so we may celebrate your baby bump. Through golden light and stunning locations, we spend about an hour together in which I capture you as you are. This location, for instance, is in Cypress near a neighborhood called Coles Crossing. It is perfect for either family or maternity portraiture thanks to the green foliage, rustic bridge and welcoming walking trails. 

The winters colors are amazing! Sometimes expecting mothers tell me they're unsure what to wear; they want to feel comfortable though also look lovely for their portraits. I encourage you to wear attire that reflects your own personal tastes and style whether the wardrobe be a flowy gown or simply leggings and a classic cardigan. No matter the choice, it's nice when the outfit is form fitting so we may show the baby bump well. Moreover, maternity sessions typically take place when your bump is about 33 weeks along. This ensures you're comfortable and that your bump is large enough to be shown off. After all, baby bump is the star here!
