West Houston Lifestyle Family Photographer | Home documentary session

Good morning!

If you follow my blog or my work (www.sarahborchgrevinkphotography.com and www.facebook.com/SarahBorchgrevinkPhotography), you may know I am now offering lifestyle sessions with a documentary feel to them. These sessions are a more natural, candid approach to telling your story; they take place in my client’s home and are both relaxed and simple. My premise for a lifestyle session is to capture you as you are. There is little fluff; it’s you being you. It’s your child celebrating his or her favorite activities. It’s baking cookies, jumping on the bed, reading a favorite story. It’s your life – in all its glory.

My latest home session took place in beautiful Cinco Ranch, a suburb in West Houston. The B family is beautiful, and I cannot thank you enough for having me in your gorgeous home. Mom is pregnant with their second little one, and I was very excited to document her bump. Charli is their little one – a spunky and inquisitive two year old who made me smile. In case you didn’t know, she’s the one who ran the show, ha! I base all my sessions on the child’s personality and dynamic. We don’t force anything or set anything up. Instead, we let the little one lead the session and show us what’s important to her.

For this session, it was very laid back and relaxed! Even the fur babies joined in. My favorite part was Charli being sweet and welcoming me to her home. She showed me her toys, living room, and bedroom. She also gave me a tour of baby brother’s nursery and she even let me check out her cool slide and tent in the toy room! We had a tea party and toasted everyone! It was certainly a memorable playdate!

Mommy & Me | Spring Photography Session in Cypress, TX

Good morning!

As a photographer, my favorite season is spring. Here in Cypress we don't have a large array of seasons; we seem to just have "hot and humid" and "more-hot-and-more-humid", however, this spring has been somewhat mild. I took advantage of the gorgeous weather to photograph Ashley, a super cool mom, and her two little ones.

They trekked out to Cypress for their golden hour mommy and me session! I don't offer mini sessions very often, but I *did* open up three spots, and was thrilled to work with this cute bunch! The session was about 15 minutes long, but we still had a lot of fun in the short time.

Home Lifestyle Session | The M Family | Cypress family photographer

Good morning, folks!

I recently announced via the blog (www.sarahborchgrevinkphotography.com) that I am proud to be offering lifestyle and documentary style sessions. As explained in my last blog post, these sessions are all about embracing the spirit of your family and celebrating you simply by being you! These photos are based around emotion, connections, and family bonds. Moreover, as a photographer, my job is to hang out in the background, and capture you doing normal things your family may do on a typical day.

I’m excited to present the “M” family to y’all! They are my first in home and lifestyle family session. They’re a cute bunch out of Cypress, and were a blast to photograph! My favorite part of the session is how laid back the entire family is; I was there for about an hour, and I wanted the session to not feel rushed or stressed, but instead like they were just hanging out with me. Because it’s important for me to not intrude, I started by meeting the little ones, seeing their toys, and asking them to show me the sort of games they like to play together. The kiddos had me smiling the entire time as, like typical siblings, they played sweetly together and also patiently waited their turn to show me all their neat toys!

After this set up, I had Mom spend one on one time with each child, perhaps just holding or hugging her precious little. I mirrored a similar dynamic with Dad, too. A little later on, everyone had a dance party in the living room (so fun!), and then the kiddos took horsey rides on dad’s back. We finished up with hugs and snuggles and playing in the kiddos play room.

My favorite aspect of a home lifestyle session is how the family is surrounded by all of their own things; it’s your environment, it’s the place you’re raising your kiddos. It’s very special. I truly believe this adds a fun dynamic to the session and makes it so much more personable. 

Sometimes, when you’re in the midst of parenting, you may not realize the smallest of moments are one you’ll cherish or fondly remember. Often, life is moving so fast. And that’s why I adore lifestyle sessions and am now offering them. Candid and more documentary photographs are the ones I most love of my own children and this is where I feel I am offering a genuine, pure, and fresh product.

I cannot thank the beautiful M family enough! Thank for you for having me in your home! I hope you cherish these photos for years to come!
