Soft golden light for this sunrise session truly makes my heart swoon! Babies are ever so purposeful in all that they do from clapping their hands, teetering steps, outstretched arms, and wide grins showing their personality. This session showcases all that is authentic about turning one! For this outdoor, natural light session, we opted for a location I adore using in Cypress, which is located in Northwest Houston. It's often quiet here with very little traffic so there are few distractions. This ensures baby can explore safely, too. I brought one of my favorite rustic buckets and also my vintage highchair for the cake smash portion. Take a look. Little girls! There's nothing like being a mama to them! As a Houston Children's Photographer, and mama, I have my own kiddos. We jokingly call them The Tiny Tribe of Wild Women. This in mind, I adore working with little ones!

For this session, Mom specifically requested child only photos. I do offer a package catering to children only called my "fresh" collection, whereas family portraiture is called "simple" collection. I keep the pricing really simple so that it's easy for you to select and you can book with confidence. All of my sessions proudly offer an inclusive session fee; this means my time, talent, session design, gallery preparation, and a certain number (typically 15) digital downloads are included in your fee. 

Child sessions are super fun and laid back. Baby plays and classic props, such as a quilt or bucket, allow baby to shine but also provide somewhere for baby to sit or stand against. I do like there to be as few props as possible so they do not detract from your baby's perfect features, precious personality, or spirited self.

These sweet sisters are simply stunning! The golden light cascades downwards and fills the background with rays of sun. The soft light is perfect for a photo-shoot. You're also presented with a lovely gallery showcasing the best images from your session. They're artistically and cohesively retouched so they act as a fine art piece in your home. They also act as a collection to ensure they look nice together as they grace your home.

 Houston Baby Photographer: Outdoor One Year Old Cake Smash Photoshoot

There's something incredibly special about a being a baby photographer. As a mama, I adore working with little ones. Their personalities are contagious and I always leave the session in a great mood. Little ones are simply a joy to work with because they're so purposeful in all that they do. Whether they're crawling, standing, or giving a big 'ol belly laugh there is purpose behind it.

For my time with beautiful Baby Ellie, I had her sweet mama meet me at a location I adore using for small children. It's in Cypress and is a historic park area. I like this location mainly because it provides a variety of options for each session type, but it's also safe and has easy parking. One year old child sessions are a blast here because the little one can explore, too!

In the beginning of Ellie's cake smash session I focused on simple child portraits. I enjoy images in which the little one is both playing candidly but also smiling at the camera. Your gallery should be diverse and filled with moments of happiness. The little one's huge grins, soulful eyes and tiny toes is simply wonderful!

Mom made this cake! She is quite the baker, huh? It's simple and chic and timeless. 

Once I introduced the actual cake to Ellie, she dug right in! During this portion of the one year old photos I take photos of everything from the child in the high chair (which I provide), from her reaching for the cake, her hands in the cake, etc. All of those tiny details really make the gallery shine and provide you with a classic collection of images you'll treasure forever.

After the cake smash portion, we cleaned Ellie up and let her play in her diaper. This is a wonderful way to end the session - to create an organic atmosphere in which the baby simply enjoys being outside and we can show all the cuteness of a newly turned one year old such as their little chunky arms, locks of hair, or chubby feet.
