Tate's Newborn Session | Welcome Baby Boy at 7 Days Fresh

A brand new baby boy! What could be a better way to spend my morning than hanging out with this handsome little guy? Welcome to the world, Tate. When I photographed his posed newborn session, in Cypress TX, he was 7 days fresh and new. His sweet mama booked his session well in advance so I had plenty of time to design his blue, grey, and white newborn session. His nursery is absolutely stunning (so much, in fact, that I'll be previewing the lifestyle family session his parents opted to do in another post).

First thing first: color! Everything in your session is provided by me. With the exception of family heirlooms such as sentimental items, you have full access to all of my props. Newborn sessions are also fully inclusive: this means aside from the five custom set ups I provide, those of which reflect your color preferences and decorative taste, there is also family, sibling, and of course images of mom with baby, dad with baby, and then the rest of the focus is baby. As mentioned earlier in this post, Tate's parents chose to do a lifestyle family session instead of traditional posed newborn family photos, so I'll be featuring his incredible nursery and decor (plus family images, ha!) in the next blog post I do. I'll link this one, too, so you don't miss the fantastic details. Since T's nursery is decorated in soft blues, royal blues, navy blues, slate grey, antique whites and ivories, and then of course a heather grey, I truly wanted the session to reflect all the masculine and timeless tones of his room.

This is my favorite vintage bucket! It can be styled for a boy newborn or little lass newborn baby girl, too! I also provided the floor drop, seen above, that is rustic pine.

Let me state the obvious: I LOVE TO WRAP BABIES! My newborn photography is based around different types of wraps that reflect womb-like posing you'd find baby in while growing in mama's tummy. The wraps add texture and interest to the photos, plus they're gorgeous. And babies love it. Oh, how they love to be snuggled, wrapped, and then they let me mold them into beautiful art pieces. While I am very patient with baby, wrapping is my go to.

At the very end of the session, if baby is sleeping wonderfully, I'll do naked shots. These are very modest and sweet. I add bonnets, perhaps a teddy bear, and ensure baby is carefully guided from pose to pose so he is never in distress. 

Macro details are some of my favorite during the session! I adore photographing all the smallest of features that make your baby unique. Their ears, toes, hairlines, profile, eyelashes, lips, cheeks, fingers, etc - I love it all. As a Houston Newborn Photographer, and mama to three little girls, I know of all the hours you'll spend rocking baby, perhaps nursing or feeding, and just looking at their sweet cherub face. You memorize their characteristics and remember dreaming of who they'll be. Who will they grow into? Who will baby look like? You see the best parts of yourself and partner in baby; it's a joy. This is why the macro details matter - they are the heart of what makes your baby who she or he is and what differentiates them.

Perfect Golden Light + The Sweetest Evening Spent | Family Photos

Good morning to you! I'd like to thank you for stopping by my blog to see one of the latest beautiful family portraiture sessions I'm previewing. As a photographer, I am based in Houston, though I serve the surrounding suburbs and areas such as Tomball, Spring, Katy, The Woodlands, Rice Village, Cypress, and many others! I delight in photographing all things baby and family. Nothing makes my heart sing quite like connecting with a family, spending the evening (or sunrise!) with you as we hang out, let your session develop organically, and make sure the experience is customer service driven. 

If you ever stop by my blog, you've probably seen this family before. They are some of my favorite clients. We've done essentially every type of session together; maternity, newborns, in home lifestyle family photography, child milestone sessions such as 3, 6, 9 and 12 month portraits. In addition, we've even done a cake smash and updated, outdoor family photography in the most stunning natural light. Seeing them puts a smile on my face and I always adore presenting them with a new gallery. Seeing little one change and grow is a joy! 

For our most recent session, we used a location in Northwest Houston; I like this spot because it's fantastic for both morning or evening light. It also has plenty of open space for little one to run and play! It features yummy golden light and is never crowded. 

My motto for all of your sessions is simple: Let Them Be Little. I enjoy working with young children because each and every single kiddo marches to the beat of their own drum. Some are wild and free whereas other little ones are curious and cautious. No matter, I embrace their individual spirit. Posing is always connected and warm; I never force little one into anything and often the session is not necessarily everyone looking at the camera and smiling, but more about holding baby close to you, breathing in her scent, basking in the glory of childhood. Because it IS sacred. And fleeting. Before you know it, little one is now a mighty toddler and then you blink and they're school aged. I can attest to this because I'm often in awe of how quickly time goes by, especially when I see repeat clients like this family. It lends perspective: document this time now. You'll treasure these images. From the way baby feels in your arm, to their laugh, to the way the toddle forward as they learn to walk. These milestones are what makes your baby who she is.

Good morning! Thanks for stopping by my blog to see one of the latest beautiful newborn baby girl's I've photographed! As a Houston Photographer, my specialization is newborn portraits; however, I also enjoy documenting pregnancy photography for expecting couples and mothers to be. Both genres go hand in hand. Celebrating your pregnancy and birth of baby through custom, fine art portraits is a spectacular way to preserve this monumental time in your life. 

Please allow me to introduce this gorgeous little one! I photographed her mama's maternity session, and so seeing her sweet parents again was an absolute joy! They are first time parents. As a Houston mama, I can tell you there's something incredibly special about your first baby. Your heart is softened; you see unconditional love. You remember hearing baby's heart beat for the first time and all the inexplicable ways she has changed you. Your baby is everything good and beautiful in this world. This in mind, these ideas shape the way I photograph your sessions.

I don't want to miss a single detail. 

For sweet baby's session, our color focus was mauve, cream and grey with rustic floor props that lend a vintage vibe. My newborn photography is both fresh and timeless. 20 years from now, you'll hold the photos and simply be in awe of all her little features, curly nature, and the way the light fills her perfect face. 

One aspect of custom posed newborn photography I adore are all the little faces you baby makes. Sometimes they're soulful. Maybe pouty. Even sweet little grins or thoughtful appearances. One cannot help but wonder if they're dreaming.

Moreover, for each newborn session, lifestyle or posed, I always include macro images. Macro portraits are the up close details of baby from their lips, eyelashes, tufts of hair, and of course button noses. These are the details you've spent hours memorizing; you rock your baby in her nursery and stare lovingly into her face. Little ones change and grow quickly; it's not until you have a baby do you realize how fleeting time truly is.
