Howdy, folks! I hope you're having a wonderful Friday and gearing up for a spectacular weekend. Spring Break is almost upon us. My little girl, Emma, is really looking forward to a week home from school and I'm excited about several upcoming shoots. For example, as a Cypress photographer, I document all things bump, baby and family. This is what makes my heart sing and being there to capture your family milestones is beyond rewarding. Thank you for entrusting me! It's an honor.

This morning I'm previewing one of my very first clients. They took a chance on me three years ago and have stood by me as I've grown and expanded my business. They're sweet as can be and I have nothing but love for them. For their session, I had them meet me in The Woodlands, an area about 30 minutes north of Houston. This location is fantastic! It features a classic bridge that works as a wonderful focal point and it also has lovely evening light. It's warm, golden, magical - everything you need to encompass your family. Good morning, folks! Today I am looking forward to previewing one of my latest outdoor, natural light maternity sessions for you. Possibly my favorite aspect of documenting your pregnancy is embracing warm, golden light. My sessions take place during this time as it's a magical hour and when the light is most soft and ethereal.

Moreover, there's a unique quality to pregnancy. It's magnificent! It's when your heart is filled with such joy as your carry your little angel. Your imagine his or her little soul; the tenderness surrounding the new baby and what their face will look like. You can almost hear her little coos or feel his soft tufts of hair against your hand as your lightly brush his hair. 

Before showing off Mom and her beautiful baby bump, let's take a quick peek at her newborn session. Baby Samantha is perfect as can be and it was a delight to photograph her!

Now that you've seen a preview of her session, let's show off Mom's bump. These were taken the day before she went into labor so I'm glad we were able to capture this special time for her.

There's something magical about childhood. You're who you want to be. Anything is possible. 

I first met L when was 6 months old. Since then, I’ve been photographing him a few times per year. You may have seen him on the blog before, as Mom and I have tried locations inside the 610 loop such as Herman Park or the Energy Corridor, like Terry Hershey Park.

Who is Lucien? He is a spunky toddler who is both adorable and inquisitive. Like most little boys, he enjoys exploring and often keeping me on my toes during the session. That’s okay – it’s important to let the little one be who they are, so for his sessions we always pick an open area with lots of room for him to run. You could certainly say little ones keep me in shape since I’m often running after them, ha! Anyway, L’s favorite movie is “Up”. If you’re not familiar with it, the premise is simple. Carl Fredricksen (Ed Asner), a 78-year-old balloon salesman, is about to fulfill a lifelong dream. Tying thousands of balloons to his house, he flies away to the South American wilderness. But curmudgeonly Carl's worst nightmare comes true when he discovers a little boy named Russell is a stowaway aboard the balloon-powered house.

This in mind, Mom and I worked together to come up with an array of props to preserve L’s favorite childhood movie. We thought of many details from objects that are special to Carl, to the balloons and basket, airplanes, vintage suitcases, the mailbox he and his wife create, their pet dog, the jar they use to save funds, their adventure book. And perhaps that’s why this session was so lovely is because Carl embraces the spirit of adventure…just like Lucian. When you’re a toddler, everything is an adventure. The world is a big place!
