Kaitlyn's Peppa Pig Inspired 3rd Birthday Photo Shoot in The Woodlands

Happy Third Birthday, K! Check out this Peppa Pig inspired session. 

Perhaps one of the best parts of children's photography is that anything is possible. This, of course, includes a child's favorite cartoon character, such as my latest third birthday session that's on the blog today! Moreover, designing a session around a child's preferences is special because you will look back fondly at the images and remember this time in his or her life.In case you're unfamiliar with this popular children's cartoon, visit Peppa pig here. She's quite cheeky and little ones love her. You may remember seeing K's cousin's on the blog, too at their watermelon cake smash session. That's another aspect of photography I truly treasure: meeting your families and getting to know you.

For Katelyn's third birthday photos, we opted to design a session that portrays both child and family photography; this is because I encourage parents to participate in the session. As a mama, I know that when you're at home with your little ones, more often than not, one parent is holding the camera and it's hard to have everyone together in the same photo. Because of this, it's always nice to take a few moments and capture everyone together.

For K's birthday session, I had Mom and Dad meet me in The Woodlands Texas at a lovely location featuring tree lined paths, easy parking and a bridge. The fall/winter colors even came through for some of the session, which is a big deal for Texas, ha! 

As you can see, I kept the posing very natural and easy going. Each family dynamic differs and sometimes the session is a little more composed and other times it's more free play. That's something I enjoy doing: embracing the spirit of your family and capturing you as you are. It's nice to also have a variety of images from tickles and big smiles to everyone interacting together. Sometimes I'll have you all look at the camera and smile and other times I'll have you focus on your child and engage him or her. Be who you are! These portraits are connections to your past and as time fleetingly moves, you'll look back on these images and remember who you were.

Ah, precious little newborns. They're earth angels! They are also my favorite subjects to document and I've really enjoyed learning to photograph them. I've been taking newborn sessions for the last year and there's a few things I've learned: (1) Custom newborn photography is an art, and (2) Being on-location really benefits my clients.

For example, custom newborn photography is special because each session is designed with your preferences in mind. Fabrics, wraps, antique props, bonnets, ect - all of these are different for each newborn session. I order beautiful, organic items that are often hand made. These adorn your sweet cherub babes. I also love to visit home decor or antique shops so I may find unique items to style your baby. Wooden buckets, scales, crates, tea trays, hat boxes, ect - these are lovely and can be styled to reflect your tastes.

Moreover, the professional studio is brought to clients. This includes everything you need for your newborn session. I provide a laid back experience for Mom, Dad and Baby. Everything is brought to you from several custom set ups, to the assistant who provides safety and support, to lighting and anything your baby will need for the session. I don't want you to worry about a thing - think of me as your baby sitter. I delight in photographing your beautiful little ones. The sessions are typically 3 to 4 hours long to ensure safety, plenty of time for soothing and of course time to for you to relax. When I arrive at a client's home, I encourage you to have a snack, take a hot shower, perhaps take a nap if you so wish. As a mama, I know how hectic the first few weeks can be and while the dust eventually does settle, a few moments to yourself can be lovely.

Tiny fingers, a button nose, long eyelashes. Oh, Samantha! You are perfect exactly as you are. I've been looking forward to blogging this sweet babe because her session is simply stunning. As a Houston photographer, I delight in photographing the most wee clients - precious new babies! This is because a new baby represents the tangible connection to happiness; it's indescribable. It's love at first sight. It's fulfillment. It's the weight of them in their arms and a sense of completion. 

For Baby S, I designed a custom newborn session that reflects her nursery colors. Since this is Mom and Dad's first baby girl, the session is feminine, soft, and pure. I utilized organic wraps, hand made props such as dainty tie backs,  textured fabric, antique quilts, and an array of floor props to showcase all of Samantha's features.
