If you follow me or perhaps occasionally check in on my natural light and on location photography work, you know my sessions begin at either sunrise or sunset. This is when the light is soft, most flattering. I love both times of the day, but there's something special about sunrise. A stillness in the air as the world begins to awake; the sun dances through the trees, and a softness envelopes the session. A quiet nuance adds magic.

One of my favorite details about the session is the weather. Although it was 38 degrees outside, the sun was shining, so it added a touch of warmth. Paired with winter clothing, we had a wonderful session with beautiful, yummy light!
If you look closely, you can see their breath within the air - I decided to leave this and not remove this in processing.
For the session, we kept the posing very laid back. I asked Mom and Dad to interact with Little One. She wasn't feeling very well during the session (but we didn't know that at the time). She still was a trooper and didn't shed a single tear! :-)
I love the interaction of Dad and Little One. He was excited to listen, and took direction very well. Families and children are my favorite subjects to photograph because I love the interaction. It brings me joy to see loving parents and happy children!
Mom is gorgeous! Her smile is radiant! She also has a beautiful spirit; a sense of calm about her, and she was wonderful to work with - so kind and patient!

I also took some time to work with Mom and Dad during the session. As parents, we so often forget about ourselves in the midst of all that there is to do. More often than not, one parent is behind the camera and that doesn't leave many photo opportunity between spouses. Because of this, I always spend 3-5 minutes with Mom and Dad, having them connect and remember why they fell in love - why they're building a beautiful life together, and to think about all that they've accomplished as a couple.
To finish the session, I spent some one on one time with Little One. She is so soulful - so serious. Her eyes are beautiful! Sweet, precious baby girl! You're almost one and so loved, so treasured! You're surrounded by an abundance of joy!
