Oh, Amelia. Amelia Charlotte Ann Borchgrevink. You're my third baby - you carry my heart before you even knew the sound of my heartbeat. I dreamed of your face, felt your movements, and grew you for 42 weeks. And like that, you're here. 

As a Houston newborn photographer, I enjoy working with my most precious clients. However, this session showcases my newest little one - Amelia. My entire pregnancy, I thought about the type of newborn session I wanted to accomplish. I purchased beautiful textiles, organic wraps, hand crafted crowns, tie backs, and of course soft fabrics to showcase her stunning red hair. 

Upon returning home from the hospital, I began to avidly capture her. I could not wait! In fact, we did both lifestyle and posed newborn work because I have the flexibility to do many shoots with her. Here are some of my favorite images. Many are hung in my home as art pieces and I will treasure them forever! I also included some "bloopers" such as silly faces, stretches, and all the little details I'd like to remember.

Howdy, everyone! I hope you had a fantastic Easter weekend filled with family, friends, tasty food and hopefully a little (or lot!) of chocolate candy. Today I am showcasing a recent newborn portrait session. As a photographer, I am on location which means I travel to the homes of my clients or I take you to one of the fabulous natural light locations I utilize. 

For each precious newborn baby I document, I provide a plethora of custom designs for you. These are often based around your color preferences and perhaps the nursery color scheme. This is so the images match your home and the aesthetic tone you'd like to portray. For Baby Charlotte, I was truly excited to use a variety of items from soft cream, to lavender, to even a rich, ethereal plum. I also had a new lace on hand that lends a feminine aspect to her images. 

Moreover, each newborn session now includes family and sibling set ups. I like for the galleries to be all inclusive; it's one package to fit your needs. While it is not required you or your other children participate in the photography session, I always encourage you to do so. These moments are short; they're fleeting. Before you blink, your newest bundle of joy will be a toddler. As a mama to three little girls, I can attest to how much I love having newborn portraits of them. They're a connection to our past; they remind me of the details I may not always remember such as how a new baby's eyelashes fan across their soft cheeks; the way their bee stung lips pucker when they're hungry or nursing; their tiny fingers and perfect toes and the tuft of hair you stroke as you rock your baby to sleep. These details are immensely beautiful and represent hopes, dreams - everything you imagine as you prepare your heart and home to meet your own earth angel.

Oh, Baby Q! I cannot say enough wonderful things about you. You're the epitome of all things newborn; your squishy self, your soft cheeks, the way your eyelashes flutter when you sleep. My time with him was incredibly special and I feel honored to have documented this special time in Q's life. Newborn portraits have a very limited time frame (usually taken within the first two weeks of life) but they're a beautiful investment you will treasure for years to come. 

I specifically wanted to avoid the colors of grey and blue since those are the colors of Q's older brother's session. It's important they both have a distinct look and styling to them. However, we did utilize a magnificent pistachio and then neutral boy colors such as taupe, tans, cream, ect. I even used a few splashes of color such as a vibrant red. Here are my favorite images.
