As a photographer, it can take awhile to find your voice, particularly from an artistic point of view. You may know what you want to say, but perhaps you're not quite sure how to say it. Even more so, once you know *what* you want your photographs to say, you have to translate that into an image that speaks volumes without a single word.
When I first opened my photography business, I did a little bit of this and a little bit of that; I photographed weddings and events; I also did boudoir, engagements, family sessions, and baby showers. I sometimes photographed toddlers and did corporate head shots. I was all over the place. I was searching for what I wanted to say.
However, around 2014, I began to notice I really enjoy working with children and families. I enjoy the interaction; the one on one connection. I like telling their story, and using light to create romantic, whimsical, or pure images. The light guides me in all that I do - and through my DSLR and love of light, this is where I found my voice.
As of 2015, I am specializing in newborn, child, and family photography. It feels good to say that this is what makes me happy, and this is where I belong.
Sessions like Elizabeth's help reaffirm the devotion I feel for child sessions. They're particularly my favorite. I love making friends with the little one. I love discovering who they are. I am patient, and always willing to see the little one for who they are, embrace their dynamic, and capture the spirit of their soul. I want to leave you with a collection of photographs that inspire you - that can be heirloom products on your wall.
With this, I present Elizabeth's 2015 Spring photography session. Mom and I are good friends, and I immediately knew where I wanted to take Elizabeth. She has springy red curls that frame her beautiful face, and she has a personality that is so so so soulful, so authentic; she observes everything around her and has grace and intelligence well beyond her years. I really enjoyed my time with Elizabeth. Later on, after the session was over, and the files loaded onto my computer, my husband asked about her session and how it went. I told him, "It was a breath of fresh air. It was like reading a fantastic book you want to share with your loved ones."
With that, I present Elizabeth - the coolest four year old I know. And it's an honor!
